Whether you are in significant, acute pain or are simply dealing with a minor, persistent issue, we are here to serve you and get you better as soon as possible.
Patient Forms
For your first visit, please allow 45-60 minutes for consultation, examination, and treatment. We will request that you print and complete our patient forms prior to your appointment. This paperwork provides us with your health history and information on your condition. If you are unable to do so, please arrive 10-15 minutes before your appointment time.
Consultation
Your consultation with Dr. Jaffer Barlas will begin with a conversation about your health history and concerns. This is designed for you to inform Dr. Barlas about your condition and your expectations in order to help determine how we can best help you recover and meet your health and fitness goals.
Examination
After the consultation, Dr. Barlas will perform a thorough examination consisting of mobility and flexibility testing, neurologic examination, orthopedic testing, postural examination, and functional testing.
X-Rays
Most patients at Barlas Chiropractic do not receive X-rays, as they are not clinically necessary to begin treatment. Only certain cases require a referral to a local imaging center for X-rays in order to help develop the most effective treatment plan for you.
Report of Findings
Following the mobility and flexibility examinations, Dr. Jaffer Barlas will give you a detailed report of all findings to make sure you are comfortable and confident about receiving treatment. He will also provide you with recommendations for an initial short course of care.
Treatment
At Barlas Chiropractic, on your first visit you will receive treatment following the initial examination so that you can begin feeling better immediately. This may include chiropractic adjustments, Active Release Technique® (ART®) soft tissue therapy, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation (IASTM), instructions for home care, or therapeutic exercises. In manual medicine, the use of ART® is a form of continued examination. In manually releasing pertinent regions of the spine and extremities, the doctor determines what areas contain muscular restriction, fascial adhesion, or other soft tissue problems, so that they can then be treated effectively. No form of treatment is performed without consent by you, the patient.
Home Care Program
During the course of treatment, Dr. Barlas will recommend options for home-care that you can incorporate outside of treatment. If you are in pain when you first come into our office this may include ice or heat application instructions, certain activities or positions to avoid, nutritional solutions, and exercises or stretches that you can perform on your own to forward your progress.
