One of the most common conditions treated at Barlas Chiropractic is shoulder pain.
This could be a chronic condition due to posture or overuse, or it could be an injury sustained from exercise such as lifting weights. Regardless, Dr. Jaffer Barlas will perform a thorough exam on your shoulder and upper body to determine the source of your pain and then he will use Active Release Technique® soft tissue therapy to treat whatever is injured.
Additionally, adjustments to the joints of the upper back and/or neck, as well as to the joints of the shoulder, will improve biomechanics and speed recovery time. Some shoulder pain can be treated in just a few visits or sometimes it takes longer depending on the condition and the level of dysfunction.
The shoulder is made up of multiple joints and many muscles and ligamentous structures, each of which has the capacity to sustain an injury. The glenohumeral joint, acromioclavicular joint, as well as the scapulothoracic joint and sternoclavicular joint each need to be examined and often multiple aspects of these joints can require treatment. Additionally, the muscles of the rotator cuff, the biceps tendon, and the many other muscles of the shoulder joint complex can become strained or can form scar tissue from past injuries.
The shoulder is the most mobile joint in the body.
Unfortunately, to provide for mobility, the joint tends to be lacking in stability. Back, neck, chest, and arm musculature often contribute to shoulder pain and dysfunction, so posture, muscle tension, and the surrounding joints must be addressed to relieve a shoulder problem.
Solutions to shoulder problems are often simple and can be addressed easily with Active Release Techniques® (ART®) soft tissue therapy, chiropractic adjustment, and therapeutic exercises. In cases that a condition does not resolve with conservative care provided at Barlas Chiropractic, Dr. Barlas will provide recommendations or referrals for further treatment.
